Harsh Reality Of Slave Fields
The brick kiln industry in Pakistan is dominated by marginalized Christian communities, many of whom are trapped in bonded labor, where entire families, including children, work to repay inflated debts that are passed down through generations. These workers, often from impoverished backgrounds, face grueling, hazardous conditions, with children as young as five years old subjected to long hours in toxic, physically demanding environments, denying them access to education and opportunities for a better future. The exploitation is compounded by gender discrimination, with women and girls receiving lower wages and enduring abuse. Despite the illegality of bonded labor, weak enforcement of laws, coupled with social stigma against Christians, perpetuates their cycle of poverty and marginalization, leaving them without recourse or support to escape these inhumane conditions.
